With the release of Marakkar on December 2, it is rumored that the film festival has been postponed due to the fact that there is no theater for the film festival.

Chalachithra Academy Chairman Kamal said that the release of Marakkar was not behind the postponement of the 26th International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) to February. He said the reason for postponing the festival was to work on the Kairali Theater, the main venue, and that the repairs to the theater could be completed before February.
The Kairali Theater hosts all the major functions, including the inauguration of the film festival. The fair was originally scheduled to start on December 10. This time the festival will be held in 12 theaters including Kairali, Nila, Sree, Kalabhavan, New, Kripa and Padmanabha. Meanwhile, the Documentary Festival (IDFFK) will be held next month. The IFFI will be held in Goa from November 21.
