2,30,000 affected due to incessant rain in Sri Lanka, 26 people died

Heavy Rain in Sri Lanka: In Sri Lanka in recent days, at least 26 people have died due to bad weather, while 2,30,000 people have been affected. Officials gave this information on Friday. The North East Monsoon is normally active in Sri Lanka in October and November, but this year many parts of the country have recorded above normal rainfall. 

23 houses completely destroyed, 1,253 partially damaged

DMC said 23 houses were completely destroyed, while 1,253 were partially damaged. The Meteorological Department issued a red alert for many areas earlier this week as more rain and winds are expected in the coming days. A landslide warning has also been issued in 10 districts including Colombo. DMC Deputy Director Pradeep Kodipilly said that the water level has also increased in many major rivers and a red notice has been issued for the rise in water level in many reservoirs and rivers. People living in irrigation areas and low-lying areas have been asked to remain vigilant.
