In its press conference on Sunday, the Election Commission told that elections will be held on May 4 and 11 for 14,684 posts in 760 bodies of the state. Voting will be done through EVMs in 17 Municipal Corporations of the state, while the election of Municipal and Nagar Panchayat president and members will be done through ballot paper. The Election Commissioner said that in comparison to the year 2017, this time the number of voters in the election has also increased. About 96 lakh 35 thousand 832 voters have increased this time.
At the same time, compared to 2017, seven bodies have also increased this time. There were 653 bodies in the year 2017, while this time voting will be held in 760 bodies. This time 2 thousand 361 polling stations have been increased for voting. There has also been an increase of 2024 posts (president, mayor and councilor) in the year 2023 as compared to the year 2017. The Election Commissioner said that in the year 2023, 2 lakh polling personnel would be needed. For mayor (less than 80 wards) Rs 35 lakh, (more than 80) Rs 40 lakh, for municipality Rs 9 lakh and 12 lakh, for councilor municipal corporation the spending limit is Rs 3 lakh. The Election Commissioner said that the most sensitive centers are being identified in the civic elections. Accordingly, security arrangements will be made.
