Surat: A 23-year-old businessman from the city who was declared branded after an accident has given a new lease of life to some patients who are languishing between life and death.

Dyandoli resident Prayag Ghonia, who was involved in sari business, was involved in an accident on November 7 while returning in a car from Mumbai with a friend.

After the doctors treating her were declared branded, the NGO Donate Life contacted her parents who immediately agreed to donate her heart, kidneys, cornea and lungs, which were donated to different patients in the country. This was the 38th heart and 12th lung donated from Surat with the help of Donate Life, which is actively working for organ donation.

Prayag Ghoniya’s lung was donated to a 23-year-old patient undergoing treatment at a hospital in Chennai and his liver was transplanted into a patient at the Institute of Kidney Diseases and Research (IKDRC) in Ahmedabad.

The 41-year-old woman, who was declared branded after the accident a few days ago, who was working in Zarina’s factory, had her organs donated.
