Amritsar: Ruckus over the death of a married woman in Indira Colony, family members accused of murder

The married woman died on Tuesday morning in Amritsar’s Indira Colony. The relatives alleged that the in-laws killed the married woman by hanging her. After getting information, the police reached the spot, took possession of the dead body and arrested some people after registering a case against the in-laws on the complaint of the mother of the deceased. The police handed over the body to the relatives after the post-mortem. Jandiala Guru resident Sukho told that he had married daughter Amandeep Kaur with Shamsher Singh in Indira Colony, Verka.

Accused used to beat up daughter

After marriage, the in-laws started beating the daughter for dowry. He tried to convince son-in-law Shamsher Singh and his family members. But Shamsher kept on beating his girl. He told that she had come to her in-laws’ house in Indira Colony to pick up her daughter. Her in-laws refused to send Amandeep Kaur along. He told that at around 10 in the morning, information was received about Amandeep’s condition on the phone. When he asked the people living near him about the daughter, they told that Amandeep Kaur has died.

Accused will present in court today

Verka police station in-charge Sub Inspector Gurinder Singh said that on the statements of the mother of the deceased, a case has been registered against her son-in-law Shamsher and other members of his family under Section-304B. After the post-mortem of the deceased, the body has been handed over to the relatives. At the same time, the main accused in the case and husband of the deceased Shamsher Singh and some other people of his family have been arrested. Those who will be produced in the court on Wednesday.
