Amritsar: Gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria’s henchman had come to take extortion of one crore by threatening the doctor, the police caught

The miscreant, who demanded extortion of one crore rupees by threatening a doctor of Amritsar’s Civil Lines over the phone, has been arrested by the police within 24 hours of the complaint. An old accomplice of gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria was nabbed on Saturday after a trap was spread by the investigation team formed after examining the footage of CCTV cameras while conducting a technical investigation. The accused had come to recover the extortion from the doctor at the time of his arrest. Police Commissioner Dr. Sukhchain Singh gave this information. He said that the arrested youth has been identified as Inderpreet Singh alias Captain son Tarlok Singh, a resident of Fateh Singh Colony, Hakiman Gate.

Threatened to harm the family

Gangster Jagdeep Singh alias Jaggu Bhagwanpuria, the doctor of Civil Lines area, had demanded an extortion of Rs 1 crore over the phone through his said henchman. On being told about this to the police, the doctor’s family was also threatened with harm. The Commissioner of Police said that after the complaint was given by the doctor, a team was formed immediately in view of the seriousness of the matter. ACP Detective of this team and Inspector Inderjit Singh of CIA staff and Inspector Shivdarshan Singh, in-charge of Civil Lines Station, started the investigation under the leadership of ADCP Jugraj Singh.

Two cases have already been registered against the accused

On one hand the police started checking the mobile numbers on the doctor’s phone and on the other hand, under the scheme, the doctor called Jaggu’s henchman to pay the extortion amount. According to his plan, the police arrested the henchman of gangster Jaggu by trapping him in the trap. Mobile phones and Activas used for demanding extortion have been recovered from his possession. The CP said that two cases have been registered against the accused earlier as well. One FIR is registered under NDPS Act at Civil Lines police station and another FIR is also registered under NDPS Act at Hakiman Gate police station. Police is presenting the accused in the court and taking him on remand and tracing his associates.
