At least 52 killed in Ecuadorian prison violence: police

Quito (Ecuador), Nov 13 (AP) At least 52 inmates were killed in clashes Saturday night at Ecuador’s largest prison, the Littoral Penitentiary. This information has been found in the police report.

Violence took place in the same jail recently, which the authorities termed as the worst bloodshed in any prison.

A police report obtained by The Associated Press (AP) said that 10 inmates were also injured and guns were confiscated in the clashes at a prison in the coastal city of Guayaquil.

Earlier, at least 118 people were killed and 79 injured in clashes between two gangs at Littoral Jail in late September.
