CBI interrogated former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav in the case of land-for-job scam. CBI officers questioned him at the official residence of Lalu’s daughter Misa Bharti. This scam dates back to the same period when Lalu Yadav was the Railway Minister. The CBI alleges that instead of providing jobs in the railways, they had taken land from people at throwaway prices in the name of the family. The CBI interrogated Lalu Yadav for about two and a half hours, but followed the protocol during this time. Actually Lalu Yadav has recently got kidney transplant done. In such a situation, he cannot meet everyone and no one can come close to him.
In such a situation, the CBI officers sat at a sufficient distance and kept wearing masks throughout the interrogation. ANI quoted sources as saying in its report, ‘Lalu Yadav had recently undergone a kidney transplant. That’s why it was necessary to maintain sufficient distance from them and wear masks. The reason for this is that Lalu Yadav is prone to infection and allergies. After questioning for more than two hours, the CBI team left. The CBI had issued a notice for questioning to Lalu Yadav a few days ago.
In October last year itself, the CBI had filed a charge sheet in this case. The agency alleges that the scam took place between 2004 and 2009, when Lalu Yadav was the Railway Minister. Lalu Yadav, Rabri Devi, Misa Bharti and many others are named in this case. One of these is also of an officer who was the General Manager of Railways. It is alleged that instead of getting jobs in the railways, land was taken from many people at cheap rates. For this a company was formed, which took land from people at low rates by paying cash.
Meanwhile, politics is also intensifying on the whole matter. On Monday itself, the CBI team had reached Patna for questioning Rabri Devi. Tejashwi Yadav taunted on this and said that CBI should open its office here. Apart from this, Congress and Arvind Kejriwal also opposed the questioning of Rabri Devi.
