On Saturday, 980 new cases were reported in the state as against 982 a day earlier. With new cases of infection, the total number of infected in the state increased to 15,91,994. Earlier on October 28 and 27, 990 and 976 cases were reported respectively.
The Health Department’s bulletin said that eight, nine and 15 people died of the infection on 29, 28 and 27 October respectively.
272 new cases were reported in Kolkata on Saturday while in neighboring North 24 Parganas district the figure was 148. On Friday, these figures were 273 and 161 respectively. So far 15,64,558 people have become infection free in West Bengal. Presently 8,310 cases are under treatment.
