Gundlupet: The forest department said that the fire that broke out in the afternoon of March 4 in Gaurikallugudda forest area under Gopalaswamy hill zone of Bandipur Tiger Reserve has been fully extinguished. The forest area where the fire broke out on Saturday is a valley area and immediately all the personnel were deployed to extinguish the fire. Crews from 7 zones including GS Betta, Bandipur, Kundukere, Gundlupet, Moohole, Maddur and Omkara arrived on time and extinguished the fire.

The operation was led by the Assistant Conservator of Forests of Bandipur Sub Division and Gundlupet Zone under the guidance of Forest Conservator and Tiger Project Field Director. The fire was a ground fire and no trees were damaged. The release informed that there was no harm to wild animals.
