Chief Minister promises all possible help

What did the lawyers tell the CM?

In the demand letter given to the CM, the lawyers said that there has been a long history of incidents of killings of clients, violent attacks, serious injuries, intimidation, damage to property, inside and outside Delhi courts against lawyers. It is now being seen that the cases of attacks on lawyers and making false allegations against legal professionals have increased manifold. This year too, there have been several incidents of violence, including the murder of advocate Virender Kumar Narwal in April.

"ensure safety"

Representatives associated with lawyers say that now more than ever it has become necessary to stop acts of violence against lawyers and punish those who commit such acts. Taking cognizance of such crimes in Delhi, an effective law should be made to make them non-bailable and protect the lawyers who are discharging their duties. To ensure respect, protection and promotion of the freedom to practice the profession of lawyers in Delhi.

For this the coordination committee has felt the urgent need and necessity of protection against violence, assault, illegal arrest, social and physical security. Therefore, the coordination committee has been demanding for a long time the immediate passage of the Delhi Advocates Protection Act, which would ensure adequate protection to the lawyers to discharge their duties without any fear and worry about their safety and social security in the court . They are ready to introduce the draft of The Delhi Advocates (Protection) Bill 2023.
