Kurup, starring Dulquar Salman, has been well received by the audience. Kurup holds the record for most shows in a single day in Kerala and was screened on 500 screens in Kerala. Kurup, who came after the Kovid restrictions, is one of the reasons for going back to the heyday of Malayalam cinema. As it is a weekend, the line-up hopes that more audiences will come to the theaters in the next two days.

Shenoys Cinemax MD Suresh Shenoy was quoted as saying that Kurup will have a gross collection of over Rs 10 crore in a week’s time. Vijayakumar, the Fioc president and theater owner, had said that there was no such gross collection even when the film was playing in theaters at 100 per cent capacity. The people of Kerala have made Dulquer Salman a superstar, saying that if it was 100 per cent seating, it would have got double collection. Suresh Shenoy had said that this is the first step towards becoming a superstar when you see the rejection of the theater and the reaction of the audience on the first day.

Kurup, directed by Srinath Rajendran and produced by Dulquar Salman’s debut film Second Show, has been released in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Kannada. Kurup has become one of the biggest releases of Dulquer Salman’s career. The film received an offer of a record amount to be released on an online platform. However, despite these offers, efforts to bring the film to the theaters have now been successful.

The film, which is being made on the biggest budget of Dulquar’s career, has a budget of Rs 35 crore. Waferr Films and M Star Entertainment are owned by Dulquer Salman. Written by Jithin K Jose, the film is scripted and narrated by Daniel Soyuz Nair and KS Aravind. Nimish Ravi is the cinematographer and Sushin Shyam is the music director. Vini Vishwa Lal is also behind Kurup as the Creative Director. The production designer of the film is Bangla, who won the National Award for Best Production Design through the Blacksmith incident. Editing by another National Award winner Vivek Harshan.

The heroine of the movie is Shobhitha Dhulipala who made her Malayalam debut with the movie Moothon. The film also stars Indrajith Sukumaran, Sunny Wayne, Shine Tom Chacko, Vijayaraghavan, P Balachandran, Surabhi Lakshmi and Shivajith Padmanabhan.
