Special Ops 1.5; Not special, but gripping
-Sandeep Santosh

‘Special Ops’ is a Hindi web series that has become very popular through Hotstar. The series, starring KK Menon in the lead role, was based on the story of Himmat Singh, a fictional RAW agent. ‘Special Ops 1.5’ features events that parallel the story shared in the first season, which had eight episodes, and focus more on Himmat Singh’s personal life. Neeraj Pandey and Shivam Nair, who directed the first season, also directed 1.5.

Along with KK Menon, Aftab Sivadasani, Vinay Pathak, Adil Khan, Gautami Kapoor and Aishwarya Sushmita have joined the series. Fans of ‘Special Ops’ are waiting for the second season to reach 1.5. ‘Himmat Story’, which ends in four episodes, is sure to satisfy the fans but it is not sure that it will live up to expectations.

The story was revealed in the first season through an internal audit inquiry against Himmat Singh. The accused Himmat Singh was seen explaining his previous missions in front of officials Naresh Chow and MK Banerjee and at the same time seeing the new mission going on.

Himmat Singh’s retirement time will be introduced at 1.5. Himmat Singh has been accused by some in the other department of causing some technical problems in terms of the benefits he is entitled to when he retires. Naresh Chow and MK Banerjee, former auditors, were tasked with investigating the allegations.

They also summoned Abbas Sheikh of the Delhi Police to find out what was beyond Himmat Singh’s official records. There, Abbas opens a new chapter unfamiliar to the audience. Check out Special Ops 1.5 to get a closer look at Himmat Singh’s life through the description of his friend Abbas.

KK Menon is a unique genius who has won over his own audience with the power of acting. ‘Special Ops’ was specialized in the actor’s extra realistic cast. There are two people who have changed the perception of the audience when they hear that it is a raw agent. Manoj Bajpayee through ‘Family Man’ series and KK Menon through Special Ops. The performances of both the actors were excellent.

With the arrival of Family Man Season 2, fans were waiting to see KK Menon as Himmat Singh again. Fans can rejoice that they did not have to despair when the wait ended and the character came on screen again. Though the number of episodes is low, it does not affect the screen presence and performance of the actor, Himmat Singh is the same as the old Himmat Singh. Himmat Singh The audience’s expectations will increase a lot when the character of Abbas starts describing the journey by claiming that the story of Himmat Singh is very attractive, but this time the story was not so attractive.

The script of 1.5 did not find anything surprising or enticing to the audience. The lack of maturity in the script is evident from the way in which Himmat Singh’s love, which is very important in the story, is handled. Both the script and the director failed to convey the intensity of that love and Himmat Singh’s mentality to the audience.

Not only that, the film went on to disappoint those who were waiting to see Himmat Singh’s heroic story. The series will not satisfy those who expect to see the challenges the central character faces and how he skillfully copes with it all. However, those who watch the series will be able to enjoy it well without being overwhelmed by the expectations given by the special options.

The series gave Adil Khan a great opportunity to shine in a negative role. The actor performed the role beautifully enough to fit in as the villain, but the success of the protagonist was not what the audience wanted in the series. Special mention should be made of actress Aishwarya Sushmita who managed to captivate the audience by becoming a regular character. The actress is a spark that can ignite on the Bollywood curtain, and time will tell. Aishwarya’s casting was one of the best in the series. Russian actors Maria, Aftab Sivadasani, Vinay Pathak, Gautami Kapoor and Shiv Jyoti have also done well in their roles.

Nothing was ahead of the first season at 1.5. However, it scored ‘1.5’ for its excellent presentation of the theme of Honeytrap and for illuminating the story by shocking the audience with some links from the first season.

Despite the twists and turns, the narrative style, which left many contexts for the audience to think about and went unexplained, did not seem delicious. Similarly, the series’ lack of action scenes, which focused on the dialogues, also blurred the series.

If the climax had been a little more fat by including action scenes that satisfy the audience, the film would have definitely moved on or off with special options. Elements such as editing, background music, and photography have supported the series.
