EPFO: Jobs increasing in the country, more than 15 lakh members joined EPFO, number of women also increased

EPFO Members Data: The number of jobs in the country is increasing rapidly. The figures released by the Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) on Tuesday are encouraging. According to the data, 15.62 lakh members joined EPFO ​​in December 2023. This is the highest figure in the last 3 months. This makes it clear that jobs are increasing in the country. There has been an increase of 4.62 percent in this figure as compared to December 2022. According to the Labor Ministry, 8.41 lakh new members joined EPFO ​​in December 2023. This figure has increased by 11.97 percent as compared to November, 2023. 

Most youth are becoming EPFO ​​members

According to EPFO ​​payroll data, the share of 18 to 25 age group in the total new members added during this period was 57.18 percent. This shows that most of the members joining the work force in the organized sector of the country are youth. Companies are ahead in providing jobs to the youth. According to the data, in December 2023, about 12.02 lakh members who had gone out of EPFO ​​schemes came back. This happens because of joining a job somewhere else after leaving the job. 

The number of new members is increasing every month 

According to statistics, the number of new members is increasing rapidly every month. Most of them have got a job for the first time. Of the 8.41 lakh new members added, about 2.09 lakh are women. This is the first time she has joined EPFO. A total of 2.90 lakh women have become members of EPFO ​​in December 2023. There has been an increase of 3.54 percent as compared to November, 2023. 

The maximum number of members increased from these sectors

Highest number of 58.33 percent members participated from Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Haryana. The number of people rejoining EPFO ​​has also increased by 12.61 percent as compared to November 2023. Maximum EPFO ​​members are associated with Iron and Steel, Building and Construction, Manpower Supply, Security Services and General Insurance sectors. EPFO releases this data every month. It was started from September 2017. EPFO members are numbered through Universal Account Number (UAN) through Aadhaar.
