Interim Budget 2024: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that the unemployment rate in the country has decreased. The Finance Minister said that according to the data, the unemployment rate was 6 percent in 2017-18, which has come down to 3.2 percent in 2022-23. The Finance Minister told in the Lok Sabha that on one hand the labor force has increased, on the other hand the unemployment rate has also decreased.

The Finance Minister told the House that the budgetary allocation for major items has not been reduced. He said that on the contrary the budget has been increased. On the inflation front, the Finance Minister said that due to the steps taken by the government, the prices of essential food items have come down. The Finance Minister said that the inflation rate has come within the tolerance band. 

On the allegations of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and the state's Congress government, the Finance Minister said that according to the 15th Finance Commission, we are releasing funds for all the states including Karnataka, hence the question of the claim of not giving funds to Karnataka does not arise. . In fact, under the leadership of the Chief Minister of Karnataka, the MPs of the state have staged a protest at Jantar Mantar on Wednesday, 7 February 2024. They allege that Karnataka is the second largest state which is giving the highest revenue to the country but the government is not giving its share to the state.
