CM Yogi can give free electricity to the farmers of UP for irrigation, why not Bihar, Nitish Kumar told the reason

Patna: The Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh had given a big gift to the farmers of the state this time in the budget. The Yogi government made irrigation electricity free for the farmers of UP. Earlier, the bill for private tube wells used for irrigation was half, which will now be completely waived. But like the farmers of UP, why don’t the farmers of the neighboring state of Bihar get free electricity for irrigation. State Chief Minister Nitish Kumar answered this in the House on Wednesday. Nitish Kumar said that we are giving electricity to the farmers at the rate of 70 paise per unit.

Nitish Kumar said that we have kept the rate of electricity for agriculture in the state low. 70 paise per unit for farmers. Bihar government buys power at 5.55 paise per unit. But giving it to the farmers at the rate of 70 paise per unit. Some people demand that free electricity be given to the farmers. But we are also trying to increase the income of the state. He said that work is being done on electricity in every house. The work of installing prepaid smart meters is in progress. 12 lakh 50 thousand meters have been installed. Very little money is being charged for installing prepaid meters. We are the ones doing all the work. That’s why the electricity available to the farmers is not being made free.

Apart from UP, electricity is free for farmers in these states

Tell me, before Uttar Pradesh, electricity is free in about five states for irrigation of fields. These states are Punjab, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Telangana. In these states, farmers get electricity for irrigation completely free of cost.

Our government is also working for solar energy: Nitish Kumar

In the House, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also emphasized on solar energy. He said that our government is also working for solar energy. If we use solar energy then it will be cheaper for everyone. There is 9 lakh hectare area in North Bihar, farming cannot be done there but solar energy can be taken advantage of there. The CM said that we are providing electricity through solar energy in one road also. More electricity is available than what is spent.
