Indian-origin CEO of pharmaceutical company murdered in US

New York, Oct 30 (PTI) An Indian-origin chief executive officer (CEO) of a pharmaceutical company was shot dead by a gunman in the US state of New Jersey.

According to the CBC New York newspaper, officials said a gunman shot and killed Mr. Ranga Aravapalli, 54, of Indian origin, on Tuesday morning in Plainsboro, New Jersey, shortly after arriving at his home. The gunman followed them with the intention of robbing near a casino outside Philadelphia just before 3:30 a.m.

According to the New York Post newspaper, police said a “drug company official” was chased about 80 kilometers from a casino in Pennsylvania to New Jersey and killed during a robbery attempt at his home in New Jersey. His wife and daughter were sleeping at that time.

According to the newspaper, Aravapalli cashed in $10,000 he won at the Parks Casino early Tuesday when he was spotted by 27-year-old Jakai Reed John of Pennsylvania.

Police have arrested Jakai Reed-John and charged with murder.
