To launch AI model or product, permission will have to be taken from MeitY, government made new rules.

AI Technology: Artificial Intelligence i.e. AI Technology is being discussed a lot in the whole world including India for quite some time now. This technology has earned a lot of fame all over the world in just the last few months. This technology has many advantages, but there are also many major disadvantages.

Because of this the Government of India has taken a big decision. The government has said that it will be mandatory for any company in India to take permission from the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology of the Government of India to launch its AI model or any AI product.

Government made rules for AI

The Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has issued a new advisory for companies regarding the launch of Artificial Intelligence (AI) models in India. Before launching AI models in India, any company i.e. platforms or intermediaries will have to take explicit permission from the Centre.

Recent advisory of @GoI_MeitY needs to be understood

➡️Advisory is aimed at the Significant platforms and permission seeking from Meity is only for large plarforms and will not apply to startups.

MeitY had also earlier issued an advisory for social media platforms in December last year, directing them to follow the existing IT rules. The government had specifically advised social media platforms to deal with deepfake technology and directed them to follow IT rules.

It is very important to keep these things in mind

Important things to keep in mind before launching AI models in India:

Requirement for permission is important: All platforms will have to take explicit permission from the government before launching AI models. Companies will have to inform their users about the disadvantages of that AI technology.

Rules to be followed: Intermediaries have to comply with their duties as mentioned in the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021.

It is important to take care of the content: Social media platforms and companies should avoid placing, sharing and modification of illegal content on the platform. Apart from this, they should avoid one-sidedness or discrimination while protecting the electoral process.

Awareness of users is important:Users should be aware of the harm caused by AI created pictures and related matters ranging from account suspension to legal action.

Labeling required:Companies will also be required to label misleading or potentially misleading content on their platforms, so that users can easily understand that the content may be false or misleading.< /p>
