Born on March 16, 1910 in the royal Pataudi Khandar of Punjab, Iftikhar Ali Khan Pataudi was the father of former India captain Tiger Pataudi. He made his debut for England in the prestigious Ashes series played between England and Australia in the year 1932. Pataudi Sahav’s debut was great and he scored a brilliant century on his debut. In his debut match played in Sydney, Iftikhar Ali Khan Pataudi scored 102 runs in 380 balls. He had hit 6 fours in his innings. Iftikhar has played three matches for England. The interesting thing is that he played all these three matches during the Ashes.

The third Test captain of Team India
After England, Iftikhar Pataudi came to India and took command of Team India in the year 1936. He became the third Test captain of India after CK Nayudu Maharaj of Vizianagaram. Pataudi, who was the captain of the Test team for almost a year, captained India in 3 matches. Looking at his captaincy figures, he lost two out of three Tests and one was a draw. Nawab Pataudi played 3 Test matches for India in which he was the captain of the team. He is the only cricketer to play international cricket for both India and England.
