Team India set a rare record in the T20s. With two balls to spare, India chased down a 165-run target in the first T20I match against New Zealand in Jaipur on Wednesday night to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match T20I series. The second T20 match will be played at Ranchi on Friday at 7 pm.

New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat first, scoring 164 for 6. Openers Martin Guptill (3×4, 4×6 off 70:42 balls) and Chapman (6×4, 2×6 off 63:50 balls) scored half-centuries for the team. Among Indian bowlers, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Ashwin took two wickets each while Deepak Chahar and Mohammad Siraj took four wickets each. In the ensuing chase, Rohit Sharma (5×4, 2×6 off 48:36 balls) and Suryakumar Yadav (6×4, 3×6 off 62:40 balls) played aggressively. Team India won by 166/5 in 19.4 overs.

With the victory of Jaipur T20, the Indian team rose to the top as the team that has won the most number of chases in the T20s. So far, Australia and Pakistan have won 49 T20 matches in a row. What’s more interesting? In India, Team India has played 22 T20 matches so far and won 18 of them. Three of those four defeats came at the hands of New Zealand.
