Smriti Mandhana Century In WBBL: India’s daughter Smriti Mandhana’s fearless batting, stormy century created history in Australia

Sydney
India’s daughter Smriti Mandhana created history in the Women’s Big Bash League on Wednesday. He scored his first century in BBL in 57 balls. With this, she became the first Indian cricketer to score a century in this women’s league. Mandhana McKay, who plays for Sydney Thunder, reached this milestone while chasing a target of 176 against Melbourne Renegades at Harrup Park.

His unbeaten 114 runs, however, could not lead the team to victory. Renegades won the match by four runs. Thunder needed 13 runs to win in the last over, but Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur did not allow Mandhana and Tahila Wilson to hit a single boundary in the last over while bowling lethally. The result was that Smriti Mandhana’s team was defeated, while Harmanpreet’s team was the winner. With this defeat, the Thunder are out of the race for the playoffs.

Smriti Mandhana was adjudged the player of the match for her unbeaten 114 off 64 balls with the help of 14 fours and 3 sixes. Earlier, Melbourne had scored 175 runs for 4 wickets. For that, Mandhana’s Indian teammate Harmanpreet played an unbeaten innings of 81 runs in 55 balls with the help of 11 fours and 2 sixes. After this, in bowling, he took 1 wicket for 27 runs in 4 overs.

Equals Best Score of WBBL
114* This is Smriti’s highest individual score in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL). He equaled the record held by Ashley Gardner since 2017. Ashleigh Gardner scored 114 runs in 2017. She is not only the first Indian batsman to score a century in WBBL, but also the first batsman for Sydney Thunder.

Two centuries, in both Harman was playing in the opposition team
It is also Smriti’s highest individual score in T20s and only her second century in the format. Incidentally, both of her hundreds have come when Harmanpreet has been a part of the opposition team. Smriti Mandhana’s highest score in foreign T20 leagues was 114* against Sydney Thunder (today), while she scored 102 (2018) against Lancashire Thunder in KSL.
