Will end Inspector Raj if voted to power in Punjab: Kejriwal

Chandigarh, Oct 29 (PTI) Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal on Friday said that if his party comes to power in Punjab in the next year’s assembly elections, it will end the ‘Inspector Raj’ and restore the state. It will create a conducive environment for industries to flourish and make traders partners in development.

He also promised to end the pending VAT refunds of traders and traders in three-four months and to provide round-the-clock electricity to industries in the state if AAP comes to power.

Addressing a gathering of businessmen and businessmen in Bathinda on the last day of his two-day visit to Punjab, the Delhi Chief Minister said, “Our aim is to make a prosperous Punjab and take it towards progress. We will form a crime and corruption free government.

On the first day of his tour, Kejriwal had met farmers in Mansa. He had a meeting with industry representatives in Ludhiana last month.

AAP’s Punjab affairs in-charge Raghav Chadha, Leader of Opposition in Punjab Assembly Harpal Cheema, AAP’s state unit president and MP Bhagwant Mann and MLA Aman Arora were present at the event in Bathinda.

Kejriwal said that AAP works with clear intentions.

“We will give you an honest government in Punjab like in Delhi. We have abolished Inspector Raj and Red Raj in Delhi.

Kejriwal said Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi has also said that he would make traders partners in the development of the state and end the ‘Inspector Raj’.

He asked, “Why has he not been able to do this till now? Because they have no intention, they have bad intentions.

“When we did so many things during our 49-day tenure in Delhi (AAP’s first stint in the national capital), why could Channi not do it? That’s why I say it is easy to imitate the Aam Aadmi Party, but it is difficult to implement.

Responding to concerns of some traders about the alleged “goonda tax”, he said that after coming to power, AAP will ensure that traders can run their business without any fear.

“After our government is formed in Punjab, from April 1, 2022, it will be our responsibility to ensure the safety of every businessman,” he said.
