A decision has been taken by the Central Government. Under this, the Border Security Force (BSF) in Punjab has been empowered to search, seize, arrest in an area of 50 km from the present 15 km from the International Border. Congress-led Punjab’s Charanjit Channi government is continuously opposing this decision. Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi held an all-party meeting regarding the increase in the jurisdiction of BSF.
During this, he said that all the parties unanimously passed a resolution that this notification should be withdrawn (by the central government). If the government does not do this, then the parties have decided that the assembly session should be called on this. Not only this, Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi after the all-party meeting said that a session will be called in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha after next 10-15 days to pass a resolution against the Central Government’s notification (extension of BSF jurisdiction) and three agriculture laws. ‘It’s like a raid on our rights’
Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi said, “Since this is a matter related to Punjab and Punjabis, law and order is a state subject and it is like raiding our rights in the federal structure.” All the political parties of Punjab will come together in the fight to withdraw the notification from the Centre.
