PMPML Strike: Punekar’s travel worries are over! PMPML’s strike called off; All buses on the road

PMPML Strike :  Pune Metropolitan Transport (PMPML Strike ) The two-day strike of four contractors of the Corporation Limited (PMPML) has been called off on Monday night after receiving arrears of Rs 66 crore. Passenger services were disrupted due to this strike. As a result, around eight lakh passengers were affected. The remaining amount will also be paid soon, the bus service of PMPML has started from today with full capacity. The end of the strike has brought relief to the inconvenienced passengers. Four contractors went on strike due to non-payment of bills. 66 crores were given on Monday. So the bus service has resumed,” said Omprakash Bakoria, Chairman and Managing Director of PMPML, Pune.

Contractors went on strike on Sunday afternoon due to outstanding bills of Rs 99 crore for four months. Due to this, the service of 907 buses of PMPML was disrupted. Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation paid Rs 90 crore to the PMPML administration on Monday, of which Rs 54 crore came from Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Rs 36 crore from Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC). Out of this amount, Rs 66 crore will be given to the contractors while Rs 24 crore will be given to MNGL. Bills for three months from November to January were approved on Monday. The four contractors participating in the strike were Olectra, Travel Time, Anthony and Hansa.

It has been seen that the BJP-Congress has come together for the first time due to bus service closure or strike. The leaders of both the parties i.e. BJP’s city president Jagdish Mulik and newly elected MLA Ravindra Dhangekar were seen coming to the office of PMPML at the same time. Therefore, on this occasion, it was seen that the issues of Pune residents were given first priority by both the parties and Pune was also seen to have come together for tax issues.
