Winter Diet: These are the foods that will keep you warm during the cold season and prevent winter diseases

The bitter cold will last for another month.  In order not to be affected by any cold diseases during these months, one should eat food that warms the body. In winter, the immune system needs to be given the power to fight against bacteria and viruses. Flu, COVID-19, other diseases including respiratory diseases are contagious. It is important to protect yourself in this weather. Certain foods provide warmth to the body and keep you energized throughout the day.

Onion: Eating onions increases body temperature. It helps prevent cold. Onion soup is very good. Adding onions to your dishes or eating them raw gives the body extra energy.

Desi Ghee: For many people a meal is incomplete without ghee. A spoonful of ghee is added to the dal and it tastes good to them. Eating ghee daily in winter is a very good habit. Ghee strengthens immunity and keeps you warm. 

Mustard oil: One of the healthiest cooking oils is mustard oil. Eating it generates heat in the body. Hence it is the best choice for winter cooking. Make it a habit to cook with mustard oil in cold weather. 

Jaggery: Jaggery also gives excellent results in winters. Dilates blood vessels. Provides enough energy to keep the body warm. 

Ginger: Ginger is rich in anti-bacterial properties that help fight diseases like cold and cough. It has thermogenic properties that increase body heat. So make ginger tea and drink it twice a day. It should also be a part of the food. 

Snacks: Dishes should be made with ragu, sajja, sorghum etc. They produce energy. Gives strength to withstand cold.
