What is sunburn?

The normal temperature of the human body is 97.8 degrees. A sudden rise to 104 degrees is called sunburn or sun stroke. As soon as a person gets sunburnt, they feel sick. Along with falling down, severe headache, numbness of legs and arms, abdominal pain and diarrhea occur. Finally, they reach unconsciousness.

What should be done if you get sunburned?

If you get sunburned, you should take it to the nearest hospital. Otherwise, the person with sunburn should be taken out of the sun and into the shade immediately. If there is no fan, it should be kept near the cooler. Ensure good ventilation. Then wipe the body first with a wet cloth and then with a dry cloth. After that drink water.

Isn't it better to drink ORS water?

Many people think that a sunburnt person should drink ORS water. But, that is very wrong. ORS contains sodium, potassium and magnesium salts. These salts are likely to show the reverse effect when the water concentration in the body decreases. There is a risk of damaging the kidneys. Drink available water first.

How to prevent sunburn?

Drink some water every half hour. Take care not to get sun while going out. Drinking more water prevents the body from dehydrating. Sunburn can occur.

How to recognize dehydration?

Kidneys produce 30 to 40 milliliters of urine every hour. Dehydration should be recognized if the urine is white and comes in excess. Apart from that, if it is yellow and green, it should be recognized that the body is dehydrated.  

What to eat in summer is good for health?

Eat more watermelons in summer. It contains 75 percent water, 20 percent fiber and 10 percent glucose. Fruits and vegetables with high water content like cucumbers, tomatoes and oranges should be consumed. Drink more coconut water.
