Dr. Tessy Thomas: Missile Man of India is named after former President APJ Abdul Kalam. Missile Woman of India (missile woman of India) is Dr. Tessy Thomas (Dr Tessy Thomas). Dr Tessy Thomas is also known as the daughter of fire. 

First woman to lead missile project
First woman scientist to head missile project in India. Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Agni Project is in charge of Dr. Tessy Thomas‌ handed over In 2011 worked as Assistant Project Director of Agni-3 Missile Project and Project Director of Agni-4 Missile Project. In 2009, he also served as Project Director for Agni 5 Missile. Appointed as Director General of DRDO in 2018. Making a name for herself as the Missile Woman of India in a male-dominated field is no mean feat. Tessie Thomas served as the Director General of Aeronautical Systems, Agni-IV Missile Project Director at the Defense Research and Development Organization. Tessy played the lead role in the Agni series, a powerful weapon in India's defence. Contributed in various fields like control, inertial navigation, trajectory simulation, mission design. Tessy Thomas also played a major role in developing the technology for long-range missile systems used in Agni missiles. 

Key role in development of re-entry system‌
Agni V is an ambitious project for India. It was developed to engage targets within its 5,000-km range. He played a key role in making Agni-5 powerful which is crucial for national defence. A re-entry system has been developed for the missile to withstand temperatures and speeds of more than 3,000 degrees Celsius. Dr. Tessie Thomas has received several prestigious awards including the DR‌DO Agni Award for Excellence in Self-Reliance‌ in 2001. DRDO Scientist of the Year in 2008 and DRDO Performance Excellence Award in 2011. Received the India Today Woman of the Year Award in 2009.

Tessy Thomas was born in April 1963 in Tatampally, Kerala. Born in an ordinary family, Dr. Tessy Thomas…has developed a passion for science and technology since childhood. Tumba saw rockets at Equatorial Rocket Launching Stations and became interested in them. She did her primary education from St. Michael Higher Secondary School…B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from Calicut University in 1983. He completed his ME from Institute of Armament Technology.He did his PhD in Missile Guidance from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad in 2014. Attended the UPSC exams.  Successful first time in DRDO interview. This gave her an opportunity to work in DRDO.
