Sidhu came out of jail after 10 months, lashed out at BJP; Said- Rahul Gandhi is the name of revolution

Punjab Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu walked out of jail on Saturday after serving 10 months in jail in a road rage case. Coming out of Patiala Jail in Punjab, Sidhu indirectly targeted the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that “democracy is in chains.” The former cricketer was given a grand welcome upon his release. Several Congress leaders and supporters had gathered outside the jail and were raising slogans of ‘Navjot Sidhu Zindabad’. To welcome Sidhu, his supporters standing outside the jail had also arranged for drummers.

Speaking to the media after stepping out of jail, 59-year-old Sidhu said, “Democracy is in shackles, institutions have become slaves.” Navjot Sidhu said that whenever dictatorship came in this country, a revolution also came. Today I say thumping my chest that the name of that revolution is Rahul Gandhi. He will shake the very roots of the government.” He said, “Even today I say that see how the Congress worker is fighting against the oppression. Today democracy is in shackles. If my younger brother Bhagwant Mann is listening, then listen.. Democracy is in chains today.”

Sidhu said, “Punjab is the shield of this country. Efforts are being made to break that shield. A conspiracy is being hatched to impose President’s rule in Punjab. There is minority rule in Punjab. Wherever minority is in majority, there- There is no democracy there, the central government conspires.” Sidhu was sentenced to one year rigorous imprisonment in the 1988 road rage case. The former Congress Punjab unit chief surrendered before a Patiala court, following which he was sent to jail on May 20 last year.
