Bangalore: All the Kannadigas have the great intention that the much awaited “Kannada Language Comprehensive Development Bill-2022” should become a law immediately and lead to the development of comprehensive Kannada. But those who hoped for it to become a law in this winter session are in a sense disappointed. Kannada Sahitya Parishad President Nadoja Dr. Mahesh Joshi has demanded that the “Kannada Language Comprehensive Development Bill-2022” should be implemented through an ordinance immediately.

Only if the Kannada language survives will Karnataka’s identity be possible. Therefore, it is inevitable that language should be the law for the survival of culture. The government has been convinced about this many times. All the party leaders have assured the Kannada Sahitya Parishad that they will forget the party lines and hold a comprehensive debate on the “Kannada Language Comprehensive Development Bill-2022” in the House and express their support for making the law. He said that the law should be implemented as soon as possible as there is a consensus of everyone to enact the “Kannada Language Integrated Development Bill-2022”.

A proposal was submitted to take action

In its fifty-seventh report, the Karnataka Law Commission headed by Justice S.R. Bannooramath had prepared the “Kannada Language Comprehensive Development Bill-2022” and submitted a proposal to the government to take necessary steps for the implementation of the report. In this report it was clearly stated that a bill would make provision for comprehensive development of Kannada language and provide better opportunities in education and employment to Kannadigas. Dr. Nadoja said that this bill will become a law on 22-09-2022, Kannada and Culture Minister V. Sunil Kumar presented the bill in the assembly session. Mahesh Joshi reminded.

The Kannada Sahitya Parishad organized a brainstorming session on October 10 at the temple of Sri Krishna Parishad. Senior writers of the country such as Dr. SL Bhairappa, Dr. Chandrasekhara Kambara, Doddarange Gowda and many other writers including retired judges of Karnataka High Court Arali Nagaraja, HS Nagmohana Das and various dignitaries and subject matter experts participated and presented the issue. This was brought to their attention. An effort has been made to convey the need for the “Kannada Language Comprehensive Development Bill-2022” to become a law in a way that every representative of the people can understand.

The committee gave a unanimous recommendation

Kannada Sahitya Parishad on 12-10-2022 about “Kannada Language Integrated Development Bill-2022”, including experts from important fields including Kannada Maths, Judiciary, Literature, Education, Media, Law, Film Industry, Employment, Industry, etc. The clauses should be revised and the elected president of Kendra Kannada Sahitya Parishad, which is the representative body of the entire Kannadiga and the mother body of all Kannada associations and has the status of ‘State Minister’ from the government, should be made the vice-president of the state level committee. Besides, as there are elected presidents of the district units of Kannada Sahitya Parishad in the district committee, the president of the taluk unit of Kannada Sahitya Parishad should act in the taluk level committee. In addition, Dr. Nadoja said that there was a unanimous suggestion that non-government members should be in this committee. Mahesh Joshi said.

While unveiling the statue of Bhubaneswari, Chief Minister Basavaraja Bommai had promised the Kannada Sahitya Parishad that the “Kannada Language Comprehensive Development Bill”, which was the wish of all Kannadigas, would be passed and made into law in the winter session of the Vidhan Mandal held in Belgaum.

The state government should not waste this important step. Nadoja, Dr. Mahesh Joshi, the president of Kannada Sahitya Parishad, has demanded that the ‘Kannada Language Integrated Development Bill’ be promulgated in the form of an ordinance immediately.
