 Bihar News : Jai Kishore Singh was martyred in the conflict with China in Galwan in 2020. On Tuesday, Shaheed Jai Kishore’s father Raj Kapur Singh was building a memorial for his martyred son. Meanwhile, the family members of the martyr alleged that Jai Kishore’s father was beaten by the police and later arrested for building a memorial to his son on government land at Jandaha in Vaishali district.

SC-ST Act imposed

In the CCTV footage near the disputed land, it can be seen that police jawan Jai Kishore She is taking her father Raj Kapur Singh away from the village. The family alleges that the police beat them up. In fact, the Dalit villagers have accused Raj Kapur Singh of occupying government land and building a memorial. Following the complaint, Singh has been charged under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

Nand Kishore, the second son of Raj Kapur Singh, alleged, "The police officers came and asked us to remove the monument within 15 days. Last night they arrested my father, dragged him, slapped him, abused him and even beat him in the police station. He claimed, "The police came in the dark of night and arrested him as if he were a terrorist." As the news of the arrest spread, many villagers reached the monument and started protesting against the police.

However, police officer Poonam Kesari said they acted on the villagers’ complaint. That a martyr’s monument has blocked the access to a neighbor’s farm. The official added, "The family built a memorial, then erected walls around it overnight. It was encroachment on government land. They were repeatedly asked to remove the encroachment.
