Karnataka Assembly Election: Karnataka assembly elections announced, polls on 10th May and results on 13th May

Karnataka Assembly Election: The Election Commission has announced the Karnataka Assembly Elections today. Chief Election Commissioner Rajeev Kumar announced that polling in 224 seats will be held on May 10 and the results will come on May 13. According to the commission, there are 5.22 crore voters.

Let it be known that the tenure of the current Vidhan Sabha of Karnataka will end on 24 May 2023. The last assembly elections in the state were held in May 2018. Then Janata Dal Secular and Congress formed the government together. HD Kumaraswamy became the Chief Minister in this but a year and 2 months later, in July 2019, the government fell after several Congress and JDS ministers resigned. Then the BJP formed the government in Karnataka under the leadership of BS Yeddyurappa.

Although BS Yeddyurappa could also remain the Chief Minister for only two years. On the instructions of the central leadership of the BJP, he had to resign from his post and Basavaraj Bomai was made the new Chief Minister.

2018 in Karnataka Vidhan Sabha elections, out of 224 seats, Congress won 80 seats with 38.14 vote share, while BJP won 104 seats with 36.35 vote share. Along with this, 37 seats came to the account of Janata Dal Secular with 18.3 percent vote share. Congress has lost 42 seats and JDS 03 seats in this election. But BJP got 64 seats.
