Death of Nihang Singh of Gurdaspur at Singhu Border

New Delhi: The farmers’ agitation has been going on for the last 11 months. The farmers have been protesting for the repeal of the agriculture laws. Many farmers have also been martyred during the agitation. The Samyukta Kisan Morcha claims that more than 600 farmers have been martyred in the agitation. Now another death has been reported.

A member of Nihang Jathebandhan, who was sitting during a farmers’ agitation at Singhu border in Sonepat district, died on Friday morning. The deceased Nihang has been identified as Sohan Singh and was 95 years old. Sohan Singh, who had been ill for the past several days, was a resident of Muridke village in Gurdaspur district of Punjab.

Was living He came to the Singhu border in February 2021 and has been living here for the last eight months. Sohan Singh had been ill for the last few days due to old age and onset of cold. His health had deteriorated 3-4 days ago. He fell asleep after dinner on Thursday night. On Friday morning, when fellow Nihangs tried to pick up Sohan Singh, it was found that he had stopped breathing.

The funeral will be held in Muridke village Police rushed to the spot after receiving information about the death of Sohan Singh and took his body in their possession and rushed it to the Civil Hospital in Sonipat. After the postmortem, Sohan Singh’s body was handed over to his family. The district administration sent his body to his village in Gurdaspur by government ambulance. Sohan Singh will be cremated in his native village.
