Coronavirus India: XBB.1.16 variant is behind the increasing cases of corona, WHO told how dangerous it is?

WHO On XBB.1.16 Variant: There has been a surge in the cases of Coronavirus in India. According to the data released on Thursday (March 30), 3,016 new cases of corona infection have been reported in the last 24 hours. Corona virus XBB.1.16 is believed to be the cause. The World Health Organization (WHO) has told how dangerous the XBB.1.16 variant is. 

India has the highest number of cases of XBB.1.16 variant in the world. According to the study in the laboratory, the Omicron variant of Corona is currently in circulation in more than 600 lineages. Due to this, an additional mutation has occurred in its spike protein. Due to which the XBB.1.16 variant has come to the fore. It has replaced the XBB1.1.5 variant in India.

How dangerous is the XBB.1.16 variant?

At the same time, 800 case sequences of XBB.1.16 variant have come out from 22 countries. It has also been revealed in the study that the infectivity is high in the XBB.1.16 variant. Although, this variant has not taken any dangerous turn yet, but WHO is monitoring this variant. It has also been said that careful monitoring of this variant is necessary. 

What did WHO say?

According to WHO, Kovid-19 currently remains an epidemic. The virus itself is a cause of concern as it has not stabilized yet. The virus is spreading. Although its effect is less than before. Now the situation is better than before and the number of people who died due to this epidemic has also reduced a lot, but around 5-10 thousand people are dying every week in the world. Due to this continuous monitoring is necessary.

Corona cases statistics in India

According to the data of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, there are 13,509 active cases of corona in the country. So far 4,41,68,321 people have been discharged from the hospital after treatment for corona. At the same time, 5,30,862 people have lost their lives due to corona infection.
