Universities and colleges of the state will remain open next year on the birth anniversary of former Chief Minister Karpuri Thakur, first Chief Minister of Bihar Shri Krishna Singh, first Deputy Chief Minister Anugrah Narayan and the first President of the country Dr. Rajendra Prasad. On Thursday, Raj Bhavan has released the holiday calendar for the year 2024 for universities and colleges. In this, holiday has not been given on the birth anniversary of the above four great men, whereas in the year 2023, holiday was declared on their birth anniversary. At the same time, there will be no holiday on the birth anniversary of Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan (11 October) next year. However, during this period there will be holiday for Durga Puja from 10th to 13th October. After the approval of Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, the holiday calendar has been released by the Governor's Secretariat. There will be a total of 89 holidays in the year 2024, of which there will be 30 days of summer holidays. There are 12 Sundays in 89 days of holiday. Summer vacation will be for teachers, not for employees. There were a total of 92 holidays in the year 2023, of which 30 were summer holidays. The longest holiday after summer would be from Diwali to Chhath of ten days (31 October to 9 November). At the same time, there will be an eight-day holiday from 24th to 31st December on the occasion of Christmas. Summer vacation will last from June 1 to 30. There will be four days holiday for Holi from 21st to 24th March. Two days holiday each has been given on Eid and Muharram. It has also been said in the Raj Bhavan letter that the dates of holidays of Muslim festivals may change depending on the sighting of the moon.

Committee was formed for holiday table
A committee of Vice-Chancellors was formed to prepare the leave schedule in universities and colleges for the year 2024. The committee had prepared its report and submitted it to Raj Bhavan. After deliberating on the report, the holiday calendar has been released. The vice-chancellors of Patna University, Patliputra University and Munger University were included in the committee. Notification of committee formation was issued on 30 November.
