IIT Bombay: Didn’t even reveal the name and secretly donated Rs 160 crore to IIT Bombay

It is said that donation should be done in such a way that if donated with one hand, the other hand cannot even know, something similar has been done by an alumnus of IIT Bombay. Without disclosing his name, a student of IIT Bombay has donated 160 crores. This alumnus has expressed his desire that complete privacy should be maintained regarding his gift. Director of IIT Bombay, Subhashish Chowdhary told that we have kept a hundi in the temple, in which people donate as per their wish, but For the first time we have received such a huge amount in private donations.

He also said that this is common in America, but so far no university in India has received so much money from private donations, where the donor does not want to reveal his identity. Now this money will be used at the right place and for the right work. According to the Times of India website, this donation has been given to make Green Energy and Sustainable Resort Hub. A part of this will be used to create new building infrastructure and the lion’s share will be kept for research.

Let us tell you that this donation has come at a time when the institute is cutting the budget and taking loan from Higher Education Financial Agency. Let us tell you that earlier recently Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani also donated Rs 315 crore to IIT Bombay. Nandan Nilekani is an alumnus of IIT Bombay.
