Special ID Card: Good news for laborers! Government will provide special ID card through which you will get benefits of all government schemes

ID Card for Labor: The Central Government has announced to make a special ID card for laborers. This will prove to be a game changer for the workers. With its help, they will not only be able to easily avail the benefits of various schemes run by the government but will also be able to keep a check on the contractors. The central government continuously brings schemes to benefit the poor, laborers and farmers. But many times their true benefits do not reach the people. This special ID will act as a weapon for them and migrant laborers engaged in construction work will especially benefit from it.

Special ID will be linked to Aadhar card 

Labor Ministry Secretary Aarti Ahuja said that this special ID card will be linked to the laborer’s Aadhar card and e-shram database. A detailed announcement in this regard can be made next week. Aarti Ahuja said that the ministry will end all the problems faced by the workers.

Laborers working with contractors in miserable conditions

In infrastructure and building construction, most of the laborers are hired on contract. They are given jobs on daily wages. They are hired by paying them in cash and are fired at any time when the need is over. Also, no attempt is made to bring it under the ambit of any social security scheme. This is the reason why they are deprived of the benefits of many schemes. These laborers go from one state to another in search of work. Therefore they have to face every kind of challenge. Even in case of an accident, he and his family do not get any special benefit. 

Laws made for laborers are not followed 

Laws made for the interests of workers like minimum wages, safety at workplace, toilets and crèches for small children etc. are hardly followed by the contractors. Therefore, by making these new cards, the government will bring them under the ambit of various schemes. Also, such laborers will not be exploited in any way. After making this special card, the contractors will have to follow all the rules of the government.
