Today is Jan Aushadhi Day, PM Modi said this special thing while congratulating the country

Jan Aushdhi Diwas: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that the Bharatiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) scheme has not only removed the worries of crores of people in the country about the cost of treatment, but has also made their lives easier. He said that the achievements of the scheme are quite satisfactory. Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers Mansukh Mandaviya tweeted that the 5th Jan Aushadhi Day is being celebrated in the country on Tuesday. This scheme has had a direct positive impact on the lives of the common people of India. More than 12 lakh citizens of the country are buying medicines from Jan Aushadhi Kendras every day. The medicines available here are 50 to 90 per cent cheaper than the market price.

Today is 5th Jan Aushadhi Diwas

Pharmaceuticals Department is celebrating 5th Jan Aushadhi Diwas on 7th March. Programs have been planned in various cities from March 1 to March 7, which will focus on awareness about Jan Aushadhi Yojana. By January 31, the number of Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendras has increased to 9,082. Out of 764 districts in the country, 743 districts have been covered under PMBJP.

Aims to ensure access to affordable medicines

This scheme ensures easy access to affordable medicines to people in every nook and corner of the country. The government has set a target of increasing the number of Bharatiya Jan Aushadhi Kendras (PMBJK) to 10,000 by the end of December 2023. PMBJP’s product basket includes 1,759 drugs and 280 surgical instruments. In addition, new drugs and nutraceuticals products such as protein powder, malt-based food supplements, protein bars, immunity bars, sanitizers, masks, glucometers, oximeters, etc. have also been launched.

Rs 5,360 crore saved 

The cost of medicines available under PMBJP is 50-90% less than the branded prices. During the financial year 2021-22, PMBJP has achieved Rs.893.56 crores on sales made at MRP. Due to this, the common citizens of the country have saved about Rs 5,360 crore. In the current financial year 2022-23 till February 15, the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Bureau of India (PMBI), the implementing agency of PMBJP, has made sales of over Rs 1000 crore, saving about Rs 6,000 crore to citizens. In addition, 36 distributors have been appointed across the country to support the supply of medicines in remote and rural areas.
