All work can be done on a single website
Notably, passengers are now able to book and manage bookings and check-in on AirAsia India and Air India Express domestic and international flights on the all new integrated website airindiaexpress.com.
What the CEO and MD of Air India said
Air India CEO & MD Campbell Wilson said: "The integration of the core reservation and passenger-oriented systems of Air India Express and AirAsia India is a significant milestone in the transformation journey of the Air India Group. This new Air India Express operates both domestic and international. The use of systems optimized for low cost airlines internationally, gives the group a more robust LCC platform. Together with the group’s recent, benchmark-setting aircraft order, this sets the scene for us to realize many new opportunities for customers, employees and Indian aviation."
Both airlines aim to improve connectivity between international networks
The airline said that the integration of Air India Express and Air India will bring revenue, cost and operational advantages through comprehensive adoption of best practices, systems and routes of each airline and provide economies of scale. The new Air India Express will focus on leisure-oriented and price-sensitive markets while improving connectivity between major domestic cities and Air India’s fast-growing international network.
AirAsia India flies to 19 destinations nationwide, while Air India Express flies to 14 international destinations from 19 Indian cities.
