Taraka Ratna: Taraka Ratna is a big ceremony.

It is common in Telugu states to give gifts to the guests on the big karma day when someone in the house has passed away in their memory. Family members give gifts to the guests according to their means. Especially steel items are given. Their name is also printed on them. In recent times, such a tradition has declined a lot. However, this tradition is seen in the grand ritual of Nandamuri Taraka Ratna. Guests were given expensive cooking utensils in his memory.

It is known that Tarakaratna passed away on 18th of last month. His grand rites were performed today by his family members. Nandamuri’s family members and close friends, many celebrities from the fields of film and politics attended this big ceremony held at the Filmnagar Cultural Center in Hyderabad. Nara Chandrababu Naidu, Nandamuri Balakrishna, Vijayasai Reddy, Daggubati Venkateswara Rao, Purandheswari, Junior NTR, Kalyan Ram and others participated in the grand ritual.

However, Tarakaratna’s family members gifted cooking utensils in his memory to the guests at the big ceremony. A 4.6 liter casserole from Prestige Company was served to each person. Its cost is around Rs.1400. Two to three packets of sweets are also placed in this casserole. A card has also been kept by the Nandamuri family saying, ‘In memory of our beloved Nandamuri Tarakaratna, who will remain forever in our hearts.’ All in all, these gifts were a huge hit with the guests. In fact, giving away items worth Rs.1400 as gifts to guests is not a big deal for the Nandamuri family. But, it is special here that they continue that tradition.
