Qualcomm launched its Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset at the Snapdragon Conference on October 24. This chipset was first used in Xiaomi 14 series, which is currently introduced in China. In the coming days, this latest chipset is going to be seen in many other phones also.
Features of Snapdragon 8 Gen 3
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 uses 4nm process technology and not the 3nm that Apple has been rumored to use in the A17 Pro. Still, Qualcomm’s new chip offers even better performance with its Kryo CPU and Adreno GPU.
Built on 64-bit architecture, Qualcomm Kryo CPUs include a prime core that can reach speeds of up to 3.3 GHz. It uses Arm Cortex-X4 technology and includes five ‘performance’ cores (up to 3.2 GHz) and two ‘efficiency’ cores (up to 2.3 GHz). Compared to Gen 2, the new chip delivers 30% better performance and 20% battery savings.
Adreno GPU is 25% faster, 25% power saving and 40% improvement in ray tracing capabilities. It saves 10% battery usage, so you don’t have to worry about battery life. The 8 Gen 3 supports on-device display resolutions up to 4K at 60Hz and QHD+ at 144Hz. It can also handle external displays with resolutions up to 8K at 30Hz and 1080p at 240Hz, allowing for multi tasking displays.
