The government informed in its press release that this substantial financial investment by the government for the IndiaAI mission will work on different components over the next five years, which include IndiaAI compute capacity, IndiaAI Innovation Center (IAIC), IndiaAI dataset platform, Important initiatives include IndiaAI Application Development Initiative, IndiaAI Future Skills, IndiaAI Startup Financing, and Safe and Secure AI.

This India AI Mission of the Government of India will also provide a framework for developing Graphic Processing Units (GPUs) under public-private partnerships as well as multi-modal, domain-specific large language models that are suitable for generative AI platforms. It will be necessary.

What did the Union Minister say?

Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal said in a briefing after the Cabinet approval on Thursday, "A multi-faceted framework has been created to strengthen the AI-based ecosystem in India." He further said that, "Supercomputing capacity of more than 10,000 GPUs will be made available to the needy to create this AI ecosystem." He told that, "Under this mission, a National Data Manager Officer will be appointed who will coordinate with different government departments and ministries to improve the quality of data and include them in AI development."

If understood in simple language, the government said that this Rs 10,000 crore will also help those private companies which are working on AI based missions. With this step of the government, the trend of AI in the country will increase rapidly, new AI tools will be created in the country and many new start-ups will also start for AI.
