Yuzvendra Chahal can captain RCB… statement of childhood coach Randhir Singh

New Delhi
Yuzvendra Chahal is a shrewd bowler and could be a good option to lead Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the next season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). This was stated by the spinner’s childhood coach Randhir Singh. Virat Kohli announced to step down as the captain of RCB after the end of IPL 2021 in UAE in October. The Indian team captain was appointed full-time captain of RCB in 2013 but failed to lead his team to their IPL title.

The franchise may pick a player to take over the captaincy from next year’s mega auction but Randhir believes that if the team retains Chahal for the next season, the 31-year-old wrist spinner will be the one to replace Kohli. Might be an ideal candidate. Randhir said, ‘Why not Chahal? He is a very smart bowler and considering his seniority in the team, he could be a good option. He is doing well and his bonding with the players is also very good. He has been an attacking bowler for Kohli.

Was a bit confused, I can’t be the bowler I was never there: Yuzvendra Chahal
He has always proved himself right for the captaincy by performing at crucial occasions. His appointment as the captain of RCB may help the team. RCB have been a batting team full of superstars over the years, but leg-spinner Chahal has proved himself with back-to-back outstanding performances under pressure conditions at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. His coach believes that in modern cricket, bowlers should also be given a chance to lead the team.

Randhir said, “Really, we do not see many bowlers leading the team in our country. Most of the time it is the batsmen who get the opportunity, but if the bowler is smart (on the field) and performing well then he should also be considered to lead the team. He said, “Rohit Sharma is now the captain of the T20I team, but how can one ignore the world class performer Jasprit Bumrah? I have no problem leading Rohit, he is brilliant, but Bumrah is equally great in his department. So, my point is that the bowler should also get a chance.

Chahal faced severe criticism from the national selectors for not being picked in India’s T20 World Cup squad. Even the former veteran cricketer was surprised by this decision. He was knocked out of the Men in Blue tournament in the Super 12 phase. Coach Randhir further said, ‘He is in excellent form. He took many wickets while playing in IPL 2021 in UAE. He could have been a useful bowler in those conditions. The Haryana spinner has been picked for the India vs New Zealand T20I series, which starts on November 17 in Jaipur, and his coach has high hopes from the cricketer.

Team is not Virat, now Team Rohit … how will Rahul Dravid’s impression on Indian cricket, understand the whole plan
“I am sure he will help India win this series and we have T20 World Cup next year and then ODI World Cup in 2023, so I have high hopes from Chahal,” Randhir said. “There is no doubt that the competition will be tough considering the young spinners in the team. They are also good, but I am sure Chahal will continue to perform as he is not afraid of being hit by the batsmen.
