Nathan Lyon On New Australia Test Captain: The Ashes series between Australia and England is going to start at the Gabba from December 8. On this, Australian spinner Nathan Lyon believes that Steve Smith and fast bowler Pat Cummins are the most suitable candidates for captaincy after the resignation of Tim Paine. Cricket Australia (CA) had talks with Cummins and Smith on this issue, to be selected as Australia’s next Test captain.
Nathan Lyon said, "I think you look at the two players with whom CA has interacted. In my view both are the best candidates."
According to Lyon, "I think he has honestly done a good job. This is going to be a very difficult decision. If Cummins is made the captain, the senior players will support him as well as help him on the field."
said Lyon, "That’s why I’m backing Pat Cummins and Steve Smith. He said that Smith has a lot of cricketing experience and his potential is known to the whole world."
