Babar Azam did not get the Player of the Tournament, Shoaib Akhtar said that it is not fair

New Delhi
Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has expressed his displeasure over Babar Azam not being named the Player of the Tournament in the 2021 T20 World Cup. After the final of the T20 World Cup 2021 on Sunday, Australian player David Warner was named the best player of the tournament.

The 46-year-old former player wrote on Twitter that he hoped that Pakistan captain Babar Azam should have been given the award. Akhtar reasoned behind this that Babar Azam was in excellent form in this World Cup. He means to say that giving this honor to David Warner is ‘not fair’.

Babar Azam received praise from all sides for his captaincy and batting in ICC events. Azam scored 303 runs in six matches. Babar was the highest run-scorer in the event this year. Azam hit four half-centuries in this year’s T20 World Cup.

Australia’s David Warner, who was adjudged Player of the Tournament, also looked in good form. This left-handed batsman was the second highest run-scorer in the tournament. He scored 289 runs in seven matches with the help of three half-centuries.

Australia won the match on Sunday by 8 wickets over the Kiwis. This was the Kangaroo team’s first win in the T20 World Cup. New Zealand made a strong score of 172 runs with the help of 85 runs from 48 balls by captain Kane Williamson. Josh Hazlewood leads the Australian attack. He took three wickets for just 16 runs in four overs.

Australia easily achieved this target. Mitchell Marsh scored an unbeaten 77. At the same time, David Warner also played a useful innings of 53 runs. Australia won the match with seven balls to spare.
