Koregaon Bhima : Koregaon Bhima 205th Shaurya Day is being celebrated today at this place. On the occasion of Shaurya Din, a large crowd has gathered at Koregaon Bhima to greet the victory column. Lakhs of Ambedkar followers will come to this place during the day to pay their respects. State Opposition Leader Ajit Pawar will come to greet in the morning. Minister Chandrakant Patil, Prakash Ambedkar, Union Minister Ramdas Athawale, MLA Jitendra Awad will also come to Koregaon Bhima.

Lakhs of Ambedkar followers from all over the state will come today to salute the Victory Pillar on this day of bravery. A huge crowd of people can be seen to greet the victory pillar since early morning. 205 years ago in the battle of Koregaon Bhima, the British defeated the Peshwa army due to the bravery of Mahars and other community soldiers. On January 1, 1927, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar brought this history forward by visiting this Victory Pillar. Since then, Shaurya Diwas started to be celebrated in this place.
Victory Pillar at Koregaon Bhima to commemorate the battle
A historic battle took place at Koregaon on 1 January 1818. This battle was fought between the British and the Peshwas. The British had waged a war against the Peshwas on the strength of the Mahar community. After the British won this battle, they built a victory column at Koregaon Bhima to commemorate the battle. Every year Vijaystambh Shaurya Day is celebrated with great enthusiasm at Koregaon Bhima on 1st January. Maharashtra come to this place.
Violation of rules will lead to action
In view of this year’s Shaurya Day, it has been decided to ban the sale of liquor in Koregaon Bhima area i.e. in Shikrapur and Lonikand police station limits during the period of December 31 and January 1. All liquor shops in the area will be completely closed during this period. Collector Rajesh Deshmukh has ordered to take legal action in case of violation of this prohibition rule. A few days ago, Collector Dr. Deshmukh held a meeting with officials related to planning in the Vijayastambha area.
