Putting an end to the ongoing speculations regarding the post of DGP due to the retirement of Dr. Chauhan, the government decided to hand over this charge to Dr. Vishwakarma. In the order issued by Secretary Home Dr. BD Palsan, it has been said that the decision has been taken to give additional charge of DGP along with the duties of the present post to Dr. RK Vishwakarma, Chairman of the Police Recruitment Board.

This charge will remain with him till the permanent appointment on the post of DGP. No separate salary or allowance will be paid to them for this. Dr. Vishwakarma is an IPS of the year 1988 batch. He is second in seniority to Mukul Goyal, who holds the post of DG Civil Defence. His tenure is till 31 May 2023.
