Tweeted to confirm RAC ticket, became a ‘game’ with the woman; know how much lime

The exercise of getting the RAC ticket confirmed was overshadowed by a woman and her son. In this affair, about 64 thousand rupees were deducted from the woman’s account. The incident is of Vile Parle, Maharashtra. The woman had taken a train ticket which was in RAC. His son complained about this while mentioning IRCTC on Twitter, in order to confirm the ticket. After this he got a call and he was sent a link to make a payment of two rupees. He paid on the link. Suddenly the message of money being deducted from his account started coming. After this he realized that he had been cheated.

Call on son’s mobile

According to the FIR lodged with the police, 37-year-old MN Meena had booked three tickets for Bhuj for January 14. All these three tickets were in RAC. So Meena and her son thought of complaining about it on the Twitter handle of IRCTC. The fraudster called Meena’s son’s number at around 11.10 am. Meena’s son told that since the call was received shortly after the complaint on Twitter, his son thought it was from IRCTC. The caller took wrong advantage of this trust of the son.

Claimed to be from customer care

According to the complaint lodged with the police, the caller introduced himself as IRCTC customer care. He assured us that he would get our ticket confirmed. After that he sent a link on our mobile and asked us to fill in the bank details and other information and upload it. Later, I got an alert on my mobile that the transaction was done five times. Meena said that we had tweeted thinking that our RAC seat would be confirmed. It was very difficult for us to travel while sitting. But we were cheated so much. Police is currently trying to contact the bank to find out to which account the money was sent.
