Additional relaxations given in Kovid-19 restrictions in West Bengal

Kolkata, Oct 29 (PTI) The West Bengal government on Friday extended the COVID-19 restrictions till November 30, giving additional relaxations. These include allowing local trains to operate with 50 per cent passenger capacity from Sunday, which have been closed for nearly six months to contain the spread of the pandemic.

An official order said that the administration has also allowed movement of people and vehicles between 11 pm and 5 am for Kali Puja festival from November 2-5. Similar relaxation has been given for Chhath Puja on November 10 and 11.

According to the order, cinema halls, theater halls, auditoriums, shopping malls, markets, spas, gyms will be allowed to function with 70 percent capacity from October 31, but they cannot be operated after 11 pm.

The order said, “Inter-state local trains can be run with 50 percent passenger capacity. All government offices dealing with non-emergency and non-essential services will now function with 50 per cent staff capacity.

Schools, colleges and universities for classes 9 to 12 will be opened from November 16, following the standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued by the government.

The order said that the district administration, police commissionerates and local authorities have been asked to ensure strict adherence to the instructions of the state on COVID-19.
