According to the notification of Bihar Public Service Commission, teachers appointed in 2012 or later are required to pass the Teacher Eligibility Test to apply. At the same time, for teachers appointed before 2012, it will be necessary to pass the efficiency test. The provision of efficiency test or eligibility test will not be applicable for teachers working in schools affiliated to CBSE, ICSE and Bihar Board.

To apply, minimum eight years of continuous service on the post of secondary teacher in a state government school, minimum 12 years of continuous service on the post of secondary teacher in schools having permanent affiliation from CBSE, ICSE and Bihar Board and minimum 12 years of continuous service on the post of secondary teacher in schools having permanent affiliation from CBSE, ICSE and Bihar Board. A minimum of 10 years of continuous service on the post of Higher Secondary Teacher in a school having permanent affiliation from it is mandatory.

No provision for negative marking, Secretary
Secretary Ravibhushan said that the merit list for appointment to the post of headmaster will be made on the basis of marks obtained in parts one and two of the written examination. The written examination will be objective and multiple choice based. Each question will be of one mark each. There is no provision of negative marks for wrong answers. There is no provision for revaluation for the written examination.
