Raids: 38 kg ganja seized by police in Jharkhand, six people arrested

Police raided some houses in Palamu district of Jharkhand on Monday. During this, the police have seized 38 kg of ganja, while four women and two men involved in this business have been arrested.

Those taken into police custody have been identified as Bablu Gupta, Pappu Gupta, Anita Devi, Pushpa Devi, Durga Devi and Sabita Devi etc. At the same time, the police will interrogate the arrested people and investigate the network of ganja smuggling.

Superintendent of Police Chandan Kumar Sinha said that acting on a tip-off, the police raided three houses on Madhushala Road of Hussainabad police station area and seized ganja worth Rs 4 lakh and arrested six people from there.

He said the ganja was brought from Bihar’s Sasaram district and was being stuffed in jute sacks for sale in Palamu. Apart from 38 kg of ganja, 25 chillams, Rs 6800 cash, four measuring machines etc. have been seized from the accused.

A case has been registered against the accused under the NDPS Act and they were produced in a court from where they were sent to judicial custody for 14 days.
